Drawing for Surgeons

Royal College of Surgeons.

An interesting concept for me to witness & explore, a two-day course to teach non-artists to draw well enough to confidently make anatomoical drawings, or to use drawing to help explain concepts.
Alpha personalities coped well with being pushed out of their comfort zone, and sharing results.
Interestingly many were already good at drawing.
Negative space, contrast and colour all explored briefly but intensively as not since S. Porter’s lessons. “Blind” drawing, very useful technique to prevent the brain’s assumptions from interfering with the truth.

A group trip to the National Portrait Gallery followed, renewed insights into Lucien Freud’s work.
